Anup Palsokar

Dr. Anup Palsokar-Professor & Chairperson, Department of MCA

Anup is a seasoned academician with a teaching experience of almost two decades and has taught various courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate level.

He holds a B.Sc degree in Electronics, MCA, M.Phil (Computer Science) and a Ph.D in Computer Science & Engineering. His doctoral research was in the field of pattern recognition. During his doctoral research he designed a RGB-HSI conversion based model to map visual colour patterns to sound patterns, which led to the development of a Sound Based Virtual Environment for providing an active E-Learning platform for visually impaired learners.

He has 10 research publications to his credit in reputed National & International Journals including IEEE. He has attended over 25 National & International Conferences and has also chaired sessions in National Conferences. He is currently guiding one Ph.D student in the field of Assisted Electronic Learning
Dr.Anup has received a two research Grants from the University of Mumbai and is also actively involved in Consultancy assignments with Mid-Size Co-Operative Banks.
He has worked as a Paper-Setter, Examiner & Moderator for different courses at the Graduate and Post-Graduate level at various Universities including the University of Mumbai, SGB Amravati University, YCMOU and IGNOU. He is also on the panel of experts for the University Staff Selection Committee of the University of Mumbai.

He has also worked on sub-committees formed by the Board of Studies in MCA of the University of Mumbai for revising the syllabus of various courses in 2016 and 2020. He has also worked in the capacity of CAP-Coordinator at the University of Mumbai.

He is currently the Member of the Board of Studies of the B.Voc(Software Development) course at Xaviers College, Mumbai, the Board of Studies in Information Technology at SIES College of Arts, Science & Commerce (Autonomous), Mumbai and Board of Studies in Information Technology at SIES College of Commerce & Economics (Autonomous), Mumbai.

He was also invited to deliver sessions on the Use of IT in education by the UGC Academic Staff College, SGB Amravati University. He has also conducted online and Hands-on workshops on Effective use of G-Suite for Education in Teaching- Learning at two higher education institutions in Mumbai.

He is a member of various professional bodies like Computer Society of India, Indian Society for Technical Education, ACM's Computer Science Teachers Association, International Association of Engineers and the Higher Education Forum.
